We were very fortunate to have an incubator in our class this Spring. A very big thank you to Three Chicken farm for donating the eggs and lending us the incubator. The children were excited to have the incubator in the classroom and checked it every morning. We created a chart to count down the days and had many great discussions about how the chicks were growing. Part of the experience was building a brooder box for the chicks to graduate to once they had hatched. The children used drills and sandpaper to help create a cozy box for the chicks. When the chicks hatched everyone was so excited (including staff and parents!)and we loved having them as part of our classroom for a couple of weeks after they hatched.
